Bulletin Announcements

November 12, 2006 through November 18, 2006

"O give thanks to the LORD, for He is good, for His steadfast love endures forever" (Psalm 136:1, NRSV).
We come to worship with joy! We come to have fellowship in Christ. We greet and welcome all in the name of our Lord.

What A Success!!" Our Salad Bar Fundraiser last Sunday was delightful. We had twelve different dishes to taste and enjoy and beautiful decorations to please the eye. Our goal was to raise $1300.00, which would be matched, dollar-for-dollar by Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, and WE MADE IT! Our $1300.00 will be doubled by Thrivent, giving us a total of $2600.00! This money will be used for our tape ministry ($200), and towards paying the remaining $12,000.00 for the stained glass window work that was done this summer ($2400). Thank you to everyone who prepared the food, set up, cleaned up, ate and, of course, gave so generously!  ~ Wendy Colglazier

Pastor Francis Has Accepted The Call which TFL extended to him. He and his ministry have always been very close to TFL. Now is a time to rejoice that he has been brought closer in a structural / organizational sense as well. We look forward to an installation service in the near future and the rich blessings of God Almighty as the precious Gospel is brought to East Africans more and more out of our campus!

A Young Man Named Doug is a student at Trinity Lutheran College in Seattle, Washington and he'd like to do his internship at TFL this winter but he needs housing. If you know of an efficiency or 1 bedroom apartment for rent, please let Pastor Jake know.

Pastor Jake's latest report to the Elders and the Council is on the wall outside his office. You are welcome to read it.

Next Council Meeting - has been rescheduled to Tuesday, November 21 at 5:30 pm.

Hospitalizations, Births and Funerals ... Please phone the church office if you or someone you know is hospitalized, has given birth, or is in need of funeral arrangements. Due to privacy laws and lack of staff, hospitals and nursing homes seldom (if ever) phone the congregation or pastor when you enter the hospital.

Thrivent Matching Funds  allotted $28 million thru their "Giving Plus" program for 2006 that will most likely run out before the end of the year. If you are a Thrivent member and plan to make a gift to a qualifying charitable institution (like Trinity First School) and want to maximize your gift with Thrivent's "Giving Plus" matching program, please act quickly! The window of opportunity will have passed when the last penny of the $28 million has been dispersed. All gifts coming in 2006 after that point will not be matched in 2006.

Weihnacht Gottesdienst - German Christmas Communion Worship Service will be Sunday, December 10th at 2:30 p.m.

Our Circuit Elected Pastor Jake is a voting delegate to the Synodical convention this July in Houston, Texas. This national convention  is held every 3 years and is the highest decision-making body for our church body. It will be Pastor Jake's fist such convention.

Hispanic Mission Minute - (written by Abby Dawkins)  "It's all about relationships" said Pastor Fernandez, a native of Bolivia and shepherd of a Spanish-speaking church in St. Paul. "It is highly unlikely that a person will walk into a church / unknown situation by themselves, but if they know at least one person, it makes all the difference." God has created us to be in a relationship with Him and with others. He has called us to be relationship builders. What a privilege and honor to share what Jesus has done with those in our lives! Pray that God would orchestrate meaningful relationships with Spanish-speaking people and for a deepened love for the Hispanics in our midst.

A Life Quote from Lutherans For Life - "We are terminating our future. Every single lost child is a tragedy. Ninety thousand a year is a national tragedy. Abortion is like a tsunami that hits Australia every year. " - Auxiliary Bishop Anthony Fraser of Sydney, Australia

"Celebrating our Many Blessings with Thankful Hearts" is a 2006 Thrivent for Lutherans campaign in which Community Emergency Service (CES) is please to participate. As a partner with CES, you have given in the past and you know what we do caring for the hunger and people in crisis need. Giving in this Thanksgiving season through this campaign can be designated to CES. Your gift between now and December 8th will be "matched" by Thriven. For every $2,00 given Thriven will give an additional $1.00. You do not have to be a Thriven member to utilize this match. This sharing is vital and especially  needed at this time with many  new people coming to us for food. Please consider a special offering this Thanksgiving season. Make checks payable to MN Food Share (with CES) in memo line and place in offering plate.
