Thoughts of Love and Support for the family of Frieda Miller, who transferred membership to Heaven last Sunday. Frieda, age 95, had devoted her life to service. At Trinity First she served as Sunday School teacher as well as Primary Superintendent. She was both a member and counselor of the Walther League, was active in the Lydia Circle, Gemuetlichkeit Club, Quilting Bee and Ladies Aid, served as hostess for church functions and coordinated shipments of supplies to Germany and Korea during times of war. In addition she was cofounder of the Economy Center and served as House Mother at the University of Minnesota. The education of children was very important to Frieda. Hispanic Mission Minute - (written by Abby Dawkins) All in the family ... Let me introduce you to Junior. He is a young man with a loving family and a toothless grin. He's 7 and is in the first grade. Last Thursday I had a conversation with his grandmother - a woman experienced in years and young at heart. They live near here along with 6 other family members. Family is a crucial part of life in the Hispanic community. One's family is present in the happy and the hard times to support and offer comfort. How can we be a supportive family to our Hispanic neighbors? Pray: that Junior, his grandmother, and their family may come to know Jesus as their Savior and enter into the most important family of all: The family of God.
"Celebrating our Many Blessings with Thankful Hearts" is a 2006 Thrivent for Lutherans campaign in which Community Emergency Service (CES) is please to participate. As a partner with CES, you have given in the past and you know what we do caring for the hunger and people in crisis need. Giving in this Thanksgiving season through this campaign can be designated to CES. Your gift between now and December 8th will be "matched" by Thriven. For every $2,00 given Thriven will give an additional $1.00. You do not have to be a Thriven member to utilize this match. This sharing is vital and especially needed at this time with many new people coming to us for food. Please consider a special offering this Thanksgiving season. Make checks payable to MN Food Share (with CES) in memo line and place in offering plate.
