Bulletin Announcements

October 14, 2007 through October 20, 2007

It is gratifying to us that you all have come to worship our loving Creator.
Please plan on worshiping here regularly. Let us know if we can answer any questions for you.

Prepare for worship next Sunday by reading:     Genesis 32:22-30     2 Timothy 3:14-4:5     Luke 18:1-8

Pastor Jake is preaching at St. John's in Chaska this morning along with our school children. Many thanks to Pastor Brutlag for preaching today and to Louise Borak for playing the organ.

Bondage of the Will book discussion group is cancelled for tomorrow night, Monday, October 15th. Please watch the announcements for the rescheduling.

Due to the MEA long weekend, there will be no school on Thursday and Friday, October 18  19, this week. As a a result, Sara Neterer's office hours will be shorter on Friday, approximately 9am-12noon.

"Thank you for all of your thoughts, prayers, and cards following the loss of our mother and grandmother, Gertrude. She thought the world of Trinity First and its members and I know many of you were often in her thoughts and prayers also. Thanks especially to Pastor Jake for his support and guidance, to Denae for providing the beautiful music at the service, to all who joined with us at the service to celebrate mom's entrance into her heavenly home. God's blessings to you all. ~ Allen & Joleen Petersen and family."

"Dear Friends at Trinity First, I have been so blessed! My right hip was replaced September 7th, and through the work of the healing hands of my doctor and the host of caregivers God provided. Top that off with the prayers and get well wishes of my church family - a winning combination. many thanks to everyone. ~ Sincerely, Ellen Kay"

As the Holy Days approach, please be aware ... there will be no Thanksgiving or New Years worship services. If you desire to experience either of these two services, why not visit another congregation? You will be blessed! There will be mid-week Advent, German and Christmas Eve and Day worship services. Please refer to the calendar published each week in the worship folder entitled "Key Dates Ahead" for specifics.

Hospitalizations, Births and Funerals ... Please phone the church office if you or someone you know is hospitalized, has given birth, or is in need of funeral arrangements. Due to privacy laws and lack of staff, hospitals and nursing homes seldom (if ever) phone the congregation or pastor when you enter the hospital.

Book Discussion Group on Bondage  Bondage of the Will, that is! There are few books written nearly 500 years ago that are yet so relevant today. Martin Luther's signature work, On the Bondage of the Will is one of them. (Luther suggested that perhaps it was his best work - along with the Catechism) A thorough reading will bring you face-to-face with the root of dissent between Luther and the Catholic Church of the 1500s. Once there, you'll be equipped to go on and critically assess "decision theology" that is so popular in our world today. You are invited to a Book Discussion Group on Luther's Bondage of the Will! Each Monday, October 1 through November 5 (six session in all) beginning at 6:30pm hosted at the Haagenson's. So by a copy of ht book and contact Bea to get on the roster. Let's read it together and discern the nature of mankind's will!

Forum for Congregational Dialogue - Sunday, November 4th at 11am. Specific information may be found here.
