We welcome all this morning. Welcome home to Trinity
First.
Let's worship God in spirit and in truth!
Prepare for worship next Sunday by reading: Isaiah 2:15 Romans 13:11-14 Matthew 21:1-11
I have received a "Divine Call" thru LCMS World Mission to serve in Uganda, East Africa as a Leadership Training Facilitator. Please lift up my family in prayer in these days as we deliberate on whether to accept the Call or return the Call. I hope to give my answer to the Mission Board in the coming weeks. -Pastor Jake
Funeral Notice: We received word in the Church Office this past week that Pastor Dennis Ahl has entered the Church Triumphant. The funeral was on the 20th.
Weren't here last week?
You can still receive the free gift of an 'mp3 New Testament'. Speak with me, Pastor Jacob, to learn more about this Bible Listening Program.
I challenge you to carve out 28 minutes each day (less than 2% of the day!) and listen to God's Word. It's an easy way to "Abide in the Word" (refer to John 8:31 and 15:7). Meditate on Romans 10:17! You will be transformed!
There are still 36 days between now and the end of the year. You can still listen to the entire New Testament between now and the end of the year. It is entirely possible! Since it is a 40 day program, just double your listening on 2 days. You can do this!
You can still request individual 'mp3 players' ("Bible Sticks") by filling out the card found inside your 'mp3 new Testament' and mailing it in, or by calling in your order toll-free to 800-545-6552, Monday through Friday 7-4pm MST. Bible Sticks are $29 each.
We'll receive a free-will offering for Faith Comes By Hearing Ministries on December 9th and we can choose which foreign language edition that we'd like to sponsor - the list is posted on the bulletin board by the office. May God bless you listing!
Please be generous in your sponsorship of "cheer baskets" this holiday season. They are given in the name of Jesus to staff, members, and neighbors by the congregation. Pick up an envelope form an usher or greeter and place your gift in the offering plate by December 16th. - Thanks, Jeanne Huff
Offering Envelopes for 2008 are now available and can be picked up by the entry-way. You may still submit your pledge card - just place it in the offering plate!
Wednesday morning Bible Class will be held at Augustana this week. Enter via the 1020 building. God's Holy Spirit continues to transform us as we walk thru the Gospel of John verse by verse. You are always welcome to join us!
Forum for Congregational Dialogue

Forum for Congregational Dialogue last Sunday! Notes from the meeting ware

Postcard Reminders about the German Service on December 9th at 2:30 pm went out in the past 2 weeks. Please tell your friends about this unique holiday festival!
Maternity Leave! The Neterer family just welcomed Josiah into their family! Sara Neterer (church secretary) will be out of the office until Monday, January 7th. If you would like an announcement placed in the bulletin, please speak with Pastor Jake. If you have financial matters, please se Derek Wippich.
Our income for the Month of September fell $3700 short of what is required to meet our regular expenses. The previous two months (July and August) showed great congregational support and we were just about break even. October started well but was over $2000 short by the end of the month. Please remember that the next few months also bring very large heating costs so your continued extra support is always needed and appreciated. Do you have friends who have a gift of giving? If so, let them know of our needs here. Even better, let your heavenly Father know about it.
As the Holy Days approach, please be aware ... there will be no Thanksgiving or New Years worship services. If you desire to experience either of these two services, why not visit another congregation? You will be blessed! There will be mid-week Advent, German and Christmas Eve and Day worship services. Please refer to the calendar published each week in the worship folder entitled "Key Dates Ahead" for specifics.
Support your local food shelf with a cash gift to Minnesota FoodShare. www.gmcc.org/foodshare Donations through November will be supplemented in part by Thrivent Financial for Lutherans.

Tibetan Mission Minute

Prayers are requested for their continued Tibetan ministry.
Tibetan Mission Minute
- by Norman Piatti
I have recently finished reading a few books on missionaries who have dedicated
their lives to bringing the Good News of Jesus Christ to the Tibetan people -
His people. Of particular note is Victor Plymire who spent his whole life in
Tibet. He was from Pennsylvania, the 1st missionary to Tibet and he served in
Tibet from the early 1900's to the mid 1900's. What was striking to me was that
he never gave up in reaching out to God's people as he suffered personal
loneliness; loss of family; severe weather, military skirmishes, lack of food
and lack of funding particularly during the Depression Era. Further, Tibet was a
"closed country" as visitors were not easily allowed entry. Yet through all of
this, Victor succeeded in opening the 1st church in Tibet. Many things have
happened to Tibet since the 1950s and now the Tibetans are here in the Twin
Cities after hundreds of years of isolation. They are here and Rev. Bob and
Sheila Nikl are the only known full-time missionaries to the Tibetans here in
the US and they are right here at Trinity First. coincidence - or God's plan? I
vote for God's plan. Pray for continued strength for Rev. Bob and Sheila and
that they have the heart of a lion and the gentleness of a kitten for the
Tibetan people who God has brought here to the Twin Cities.
Concordia University Christmas Concert "Let All Together Praise Our God" features the Christus Chorus, the Jubilate Choir, the Handbell Ensemble, and others in the newly renovated Graebner Chapel on Friday & Saturday, November 30th and December 1st at 7:30 pm and then again on Sunday , December 2nd at 3:00 pm. For tickets, please call 651-209-6689 or go to www.ticketworks.com - $10 for students and seniors, $12 for all other adults.
Hospitalizations, Births and Funerals ... Please phone the church office if you or someone you know is hospitalized, has given birth, or is in need of funeral arrangements. Due to privacy laws and lack of staff, hospitals and nursing homes seldom (if ever) phone the congregation or pastor when you enter the hospital.
Do you ever miss Sunday worship? It's important to stay in touch! Worship folders are mailed out each week from the Church Office by request. Let us know if we can send one to you or a loved one.
CD's or Cassette Tapes of this worship gathering are available to you by calling or emailing the church office, 612-870-9487.
Portals of Prayer for October-December are available in the Narthex. Suggested donation is $1. What a great way to spend time with God and your family. A limited number of large print copies are available in the church office.
