| A Time for Preparation
The Lord's Supper is celebrated here in the glad confidence that
our Lord gives us His very body and blood to eat and drink for the
forgiveness of sin. Our Lord invites to His table those who trust
His words, repent of all sin, and forgive as He forgives us.
We should examine ourselves before we eat of the bread and drink
of the cup. (1 Corinthians 11:28,
NIV - "A man ought to
examine himself before he eats of the bread and drinks of the cup.")
- I come to the Lord's Supper with a repentant heart,
acknowledging my sin and need for God's grace.
- I believe that Jesus Christ is my only Lord and
Savior; He has saved me from all in, satan, and death.
- I believe that the risen Christ is really present in
the Lord's Supper and that with the bread and the wine I receive
His true body and blood for the forgiveness of my sin.
- I intend - by the power of the Holy Spirit - to live a
godly life.
If you are not a baptized Christian or have not been instructed
to receive the sacrament or are otherwise not prepared to commune,
please come to the rail for a blessing. (Crossing your arms across
your chest will indicate tot he pastor that you are not yet ready to
receive the sacrament, but wish to receive a blessing.)
