Volunteer Needs

Office Support -
  • Answering the phone

  • Time commitment: A volunteer may choose one day per week, one half-day per week, twice a month or even just a couple hours

Spring Musical Assistance -
  • Provide for rental sound equipment needed

  • Provide a high quality video of performance

  • Provide Spring Musical T-Shirts for students ($5.00 each)

  • Provide/Serve Refreshments

  • Assist with set design

  • Assist with set Up and Tear Down

Summer Reading Club (2006) – 15 days during the summer!
  • Small group or individual tutoring

Family Nights

The school has set up many family nights in order to build relationships, provide parenting support and better facilitate our ministry. These have proven to be a critical part of our school – family ministry. The typically begin at 5:30 pm. Each event has its own unique needs. For more information please contact Nadine Keck, our Family Night coordinator.

  • Meal Preparation & Servers
  • Preparation for crafts for Advent & Lenten Family Nights
  • Prepare and supervise children's activities while parents are in “classes” - only on events below marked **
  • Supervise preschool children during nap time on days of a Family event so pre-school teacher Nadine can set up for the event

  • Sept. 15 - Preschool & Kindergarten Family Night **

  • Sept. 20 - 3rd/4th and 5th/6th Family Night **

  • Sept. 22 - 1st/2nd and 7th/8th Family Night **

  • Oct. 4 - Early Childhood Family Night (ECFN)

  • Oct. 28 - Fall Harvest Festival – special needs – games, food, treat bags, etc

  • Nov. 1 - ECFN

  • Dec. 8 - Advent Family Night

  • Dec. 15 - Advent Family Night

  • Dec. 22 - Children's Christmas Service 7:00pm treats for after service

  • Jan. 10 - ECFN

  • Feb. 7 - ECFN

  • March 9 - Ice Cream Social / Talent Show 6:30pm – bring ice cream & toppings and serve

  • March 23 - Lenten Family Night

  • April 11 - ECFN

  • May 24 & 25 - Spring Musical Performances 7:00pm refreshments, set-up, clean up, tear-down etc. (see Terri Bentz)

 

 

Other Volunteer Ideas
great for group volunteer projects too!

  • Wall Washing – many hands make dirty walls! – many hands make light work!

  • Work Day – There is never a shortage of labor to be done around our facilities. Whether it involves a hammer and nails or just elbow grease, maintaining our school is a lot of work!

  • Tile work – Our upstairs bathrooms and stairs are greatly in need of replacement

  • Plumbing Help! For you plumbers out there – we need help!!!

  • Painting the Locker Room Floors – purchasing of paint, scraping and repainting

  • Repairing/Rebuilding Wall in main hallway

  • Purchasing and installing carpet in several classrooms

  • Set Up and Design a Web Site for the School!

  • Washing Lockers (usually in June)

  • Classroom Cleaning – (anytime of year is great for a good scrub down but that extra special attention is nice in August, Christmas time, June!)

  • Toy Washing (August & June although during Christmas is nice too!)

  • Purchase & Spread Wood Chips in the Preschool Playground

  • Purchase & Spread Pea-Gravel in School Playground, also needs to be checked for harmful debris such as glass)

  • Purchase & Install ball racks in gym closet

  • Yard Clean Up – Any time of year!

  • Distributing School/Church Fliers throughout the neighborhood

  • Shrub / tree trimming

 

 

Requirements to Volunteer

Depending on the duties involved and level student interaction, one or more must be met:

  1. be willing to have a back-ground check

  2. offer references such as your pastor

  3. be a member of a supporting congregation

  4. meet with the principal to discuss student/school safety

  5. have prior experience volunteering at Trinity First Lutheran School

* All volunteers must sign-in when working. Sign-in book is located in the church office.

* Volunteers who travel or go south during the winter are still valued!  If you are unsure of your schedule but would still like to be involved, check with the teacher you are interested in working with about how you can still help when available!
